Auxiliary to the AVMA Legacy Endowed Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by American Veterinary Medical Foundation
The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is committed to fostering the education of future veterinarians in America. We believe that by supporting their academic journey, we are contributing to the development of competent professionals who will care for our pets, ensure the safety of our food, and protect public health.
The scholarships we offer are intended to assist students in realizing their ambitions and making significant contributions to the world. We urge students to explore both conventional and unconventional career paths in their educational journey to fully comprehend the diverse opportunities the veterinary field provides.
The AVMF is immensely proud to present the Auxiliary to the AVMA Legacy Endowed Scholarship, established in honor of our longstanding association with the Auxiliary to the AVMA. This non-profit organization comprises veterinarians, associates, and supporters of the veterinary profession. Following World War II, the Auxiliary initiated a student loan fund to alleviate the financial burdens faced by veterinary families due to war-related injuries or deaths. In 2013, the Auxiliary transferred $2,000,000 to the AVMF to set up this scholarship program. The annual income from this endowment will fund veterinary student scholarships for many years ahead.
Each eligible student from the AVMA-accredited veterinary colleges in the United States, the Atlantic Veterinary College in Canada, St. George's University and Ross University in the Caribbean, the University of Glasgow and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies - The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and the Royal Veterinary College – University of London in England, will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
