Overview
This annual New Jersey healthcare scholarship provides a $2,000 award to recognize and assist students committed to careers in healthcare. Whether you plan to study medicine, nursing, neuroscience, psychology, or another health-related discipline, this scholarship aims to support your efforts to enhance patient care and contribute to the future of healthcare.
Eligibility
- Must be a high school senior or a currently enrolled undergraduate student.
- Must be a resident of, or currently attending school in, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania.
- Must intend to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field.
Application materials
To be considered, applicants must submit the following:
- A completed application form including contact information, current school, and intended area of study.
- An essay of 500–750 words addressing: Identify one major challenge facing healthcare today and explain how you plan to tackle it in your professional life to improve patient outcomes. Describe any personal experience that has influenced your outlook.
- Proof of enrollment, such as an unofficial transcript, an acceptance letter, or a current class schedule.
Selection process
A review committee composed of NJBS physicians and administrators will evaluate all submissions. Essays will be judged on relevance to the prompt, originality, demonstrated commitment to a healthcare career, and clarity of expression. The winner will be chosen based on the overall strength of the application and how well it aligns with NJBS’s mission to advance healthcare through outstanding patient care.
Award and recognition
One recipient will receive a $2,000 scholarship to support their education. The awardee will also be highlighted on the NJBS website and across NJBS social media channels as part of our effort to celebrate emerging leaders in healthcare.
